Mineral Structure Data
THIS SITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!
I am in the process of assembing a Mineral Structures Data Base.
I am hoping to compile crystallographic and physical property data for
most of the rock-forming minerals. The rationale in selecting mineral
groups for inclusion in this data base is abundance, although rarer minerals
that are isotructural with abundant species are commonly included for
comparison of structural variation.
I'm working on this fairly actively as I get time. I have been adding one or
two mineral groups per week. The last changes were made April 15, 1997.
Most of these data are updates of what is presented in Smyth and Bish (1988)
"Crystal Structures and Cation Sites f the Rock-Forming Minerals"
Allen & Unwin. The drawings presented here are done with the program
XTALDRAW.
